Academic Training

HERE ARE TWO GREAT OPPORTUNITIES

1] TEACHERS NEEDED FOR 2008

TEACHERS NEEDED FOR SEPTEMBER TERM 2008

New Beginnings offers a wonderful opportunity for someone to find rich fulfillment in changing a child’s life forever. The children who come to us have no other place to go to get their lives on the right track and begin to learn. Through their own misbehavior or circumstances of life, combined with the lack of remedial help in the school system, they walk in failure and hopelessness.  It is a thrill to see them learn and begin to see the future and hope God has for them. Won’t you consider making a difference to one of these boys?

In the first picture you can see Berend Hartman teaching some of our trainees.  Usually he has more students.

We presently have 22 students in the Remedial school. The students range in age from 7 – 17 and are at levels from kindergarten to 6th grade, not necessarily age appropriate.  The program we use does not necessarily require certified teachers, although that would be beneficial.

What we do need is the following:

Monitors for computer students on Switched on Schoolhouse.

Monitors for students doing remedial work on the computer.

Librarian assistance and aides to practice reading with the children and helping them to use books and a library.

Homework monitors to assist in the evenings

Science experiment helpers to assist a student in setting up and doing simple primary level experiments

Someone to organize sports and recreation time and supervise the trainees during play time.

Our trainees, like the ones in the second picture, need a person with patience, love, and firmness.  Mature Christians with solid knowledge bases and life experiences would fill the positions well.

The minimum goal of the remedial school is to see every boy graduate literate. The objective is for each boy to:

fill his God given academic potential.

learn discipline in his learning habits.

overcome spiritual and emotional obstacles impeding his learning process through the power of the Holy Spirit.

have an increased awareness of and desire for learning.
